Typical contracts
commence with a low cost design study that reviews the system design
options and trade-offs. This leads on to agreeing and defining the
system specification and timescales for the delivery of the on-chip
design. However, system solutions such as the Spectrum analyser on
a chip may be available with only minor modifications, meaning reduced
risk, cost, and time to market.
The overall system design service is flexible and typically incorporates
design considerations including :- the complete system frequency plan,
analogue to digital converter device selection, board options, down
conversion, system tuning, and the filtering requirements. The channelisation
design is optimised to achieve minimum silicon usage. Partitioning
of the FPGA and DSP functionality is considered as well as the application
processing, which may include averaging, interference detection and
cancellation, and demodulation.
