RFEL has extensive systems experience in implementing digital designs
for the replacement of traditional analogue IF processing sections
in test instrumentation.
RFEL can analyse the complete IF block requirements from the analogue anti-alias filter and A/D requirements, to the digital processing requirements needed to provide high quality measurement outputs. Extensive system modelling is provided as part of our initial study phase.
Using our extensive range of IP cores we can provide high quality wide band real-time filter banks for high dynamic range FFT, Polyphase DFT and Pipelined Frequency Transform (PFT) spectral analysis. Alternatively we can provide simple CIC/Gaussian filter implementations for less demanding more traditional applications. We can provide selective filtering for accurate power measurements and COSTAS loop demodulation for accurate frequency measurements and data recovery. All these processing blocks are available from our in-house IP library meaning we can keep development cost to a minimum.
Due to our success in this systems area we have generated a range
of standard product offerings called SpectraChip. These low
cost FPGA based cores offer capabilities to over 2GSps real time
spectral analysis.
Our advanced IP core implementations can dramatically increase measurement speed. For example, in a recent instrument design, the spurious product measurement cycle was improved by a factor of 30 times.
A generic system design is shown below, showing the type of system design solutions that the company has experience with.
Target applications include:
Spectrum Analysers
Communications test sets
Production test instruments
Interference and general RF monitors
RFEL are currently engaged in subsystem designs for various test instruments and are available for a free, no obligation, initial concept discussions.
